The computer program in the package explains the basics of sentence construction. It begins with the simplest declarative sentences and progressively adds modifiers for both nouns and verbs. It introduces two-idea sentences with a variety of conjunctions, explaining the semantic differences and their appropriate context of use. The final phase of the program applies all of these concepts to paragraph composition.
The design of the computer instruction utilizes Multi-Channel Communication - a method for presenting material in figural, symbolic, and semantic modes simultaneously.
In addition to the computer program, students are provided with two workbooks. The first workbook presents exercises using the concepts they have learned in each phase of the computer program. The second workbook is a compilation of SOI printed modules focusing on a variety of semantic Structure of Intellect abilities.
The package also includes an instruction plan and progress chart to guide teaching by the teacher or parent.
